The purpose of this one-week intensive is to integrate a physical technique for Acting, Character Transformation and Imagination to the genre of film and television. 

Film is a visual medium and an actor’s physicality is crucial.

  • Italy with AGR studios was one to truly remember! It combined my two favorite passions: acting and travel. Anthony and his team were a joy to work with while allowing a safe space to expand my craft and take risks. He is diligent and loving in his approach and I took home an incredible experience.

Well, this happened last summer in the Master Class taught by Anthony Robert Grasso; Last year we went to Edinburgh, Scotland. It was like fantasyland, during Fringe Festival time. In gathering with Janice Orlando and designed movement exercises and teaching, we learned to be free in our acting. I did become a kid again. I could even fly.

Movement Techniques

  • Williamson Physical Technique for the Actor

    Students will be guided through movement technique of individual, ensemble, and partner exercises that include alignment for ideal production of breath, emotion, and voice. Will include exercises in the Rasa 8 emotions and Viewpoints of composition.

  • Michael Chekhov Technique for Character & Transformation

    Janice Orlandi will lead the ensemble into exercises to develop the actors imagination used to create scenic atmospheres. Actors will learn how to embody the characters unique physical qualities by activating imagination and sensations in the actors body and the space.

Film Scene Study + Process of the 'On Set' Experience

  • The 5-day workshop will open you up to bring ideas, actions and concise choices to the director.

  • Using the Method and Meisner Techniques and various movement techniques, the actor will practice these forms, all on camera, using scenes from various plays and screenplays.

  • Designed to acquaint you with the people, responsibilities and language of a working set.

  • Learn who’s who on the set, describing who does what (each actor will be assigned a crew position) and teach film terminology and etiquette.

  • Participants will work on assigned scenes to involve framing challenges, continuity and other technical issues encountered by the director and crew.

Actors will be cast and provided sides according to their headshot & type. 


Be expected to bring the scenes to class off-book and fully crafted. Anthony Grasso will direct actors in the prepared scenes with intense rehearsal and a final run through showcase.

Meet Your Instructors

  • Anthony Robert Grasso is an award-winning actor, director, and educator with 37+ years of industry experience. He’s appeared in 35+ award-winning films (Sundance, BIFF, Garden State, etc.) and is the recipient of 84 awards and 63 nominations, most recently receiving Best Director for Crumb Cake at the Southern Shorts Awards and Best Actor for Soothsayer at the Cutting Room International Short Film Festival.

    On television, Mr. Grasso has appeared on The Sinner, Jessica Jones, Gotham, FBI, and all three Law & Order series. Streaming credits include the Hulu Series Pam & Tommy as well as the recent Netflix Feature, I'm Thinking of Ending Things directed by Oscar winner Charlie Kaufman. Mr. Grasso is the founder of ARG Studio with students who also work regularly in film, television, and theater. He previously served as the Artistic Director of Breakthrough Studios for 16 years.

    In addition to In Person and virtual classes, he teaches masterclasses and workshops for colleges, universities, and performing arts studios around the world. A third generation New Yorker, Anthony studied at The Actors Studio, The Neighborhood Playhouse, Larry Moss Studio, and The British American Drama Academy (Oxford, England). He also holds a B.F.A. in Fine Art from School of Visual Arts.

Currently faculty member at HB Studios NYC, Atlantic Theater Company, and NYU TISCH.
